Sarah was manipulating him all time. Asa told her from start that he doesn'0t love her at all, and she still could't accept it. Forcing him to stay together cause MAYTBE ONE DAY he will fall in love with her?. He rejected her 3 times, and only at the third she finally could let go... not before ruining thisng for Aurora.
Yes Asa is too naive... he had troubles to let her go, and thought about someone else even when they are together ecc. but honestly. THY WEREN'T EVEN in a situationship, no love either. she was just keeping him near. she is not a saint either.
She was not manipulating him bffr Asa knowingly got into a relationship with her because he wanted to try falling in love. He was free to leave at any time and only stayed in it because of his own fears about hurting Sarah. And she didn't "ruin" anything for Aurora. She was in a relationship with Asa and was worried about hurting her brother because he had feelings for the person she was seeing. She wanted him to be able to move on, so she tried to help. She didn't help in the best way, but she never wanted to hurt him. I never said she's a saint and I'll never act like she's perfect, but she's definitely not the worst most evil person ever like people seem to think she is.
Are we forgetting that Sarah was only interested in dating Asa to pass the time before she leaves, she said that at the very beginning of the story. This girl wasn’t serious about him, she just wanted a fun time and was gonna break things off in a bit. Which is evident in her saying she wanted to enjoy the time they had, that indicates a time limit. It’s a time frame that she didn’t tell Asa about. Other than the fact that he made it clear he didn’t reciprocate her feelings, as far as he was aware regarding their situation, it was for getting to know each other to then eventually properly date, etc, something she had no intentions of keeping up with once she left home for good. So she was literally only upset cause he didn’t stick around until she had her fill.
The best way that she could have helped, rather than try and keep them away from each other because she didn’t wanna lose out on her fun, would have been to admit to Aurora that she wasn’t serious about Asa. Her brother would have felt less like shit for crushing on him if she were honest in the first place.
I disliked your comment not because I entirely disagree with you but because you’re wrong. Neither are villains, they are just young, dumb, & in love and yet to fully understand what they’re doing. Let’s lay it out they were not in a relationship! So there was no physical or emotional cheating happening. Sarah despite her occasional maturity, was wrong for pressuring Asa to return her feelings and have sex. Same way she was wrong for pressuring her closeted gay brother to admit who he liked and why he was upset (no boundaries were respected) + outing. Asa was wrong for not properly communicating his feelings and for leading both parties even if it was unintentional. They both made mistakes, and those mistakes were resolved. No misogyny or homophobia here!
I really don't understand how they weren't in a relationship but whatever I'm aromantic so none of this stuff ever makes sense to me I don't think either of them are perfect and I'm not gonna claim Sarah did nothing wrong, my comment was merely directed to the people who are relentlessly hating on her while completely overlooking how Asa is also in the wrong. The comments here are an example of how female characters in bl are disproportionately hated on by readers in comparison to male characters and I was just pointing that out.
Chap 1: Sarah after breaking up with her BF cause he didn’t want long distance, asked Asa on a date.
Chap 2: They both talk about not being official and just testing things out.
Chap 11: Aurora says his sister is seeing him and Asa corrects that they are testing the waters.
Chap 16: Sarah kisses Asa and says they should give a relationship a shot.
Chap 17: Asa’s friend says they’re official but Asa says he guesses they are kinda together, calls the relationship complicated and mentions how he doesn’t reciprocate Sarah.
Chap 20-21: Sarah says she knows he doesn’t feel the same way but she wants to have sex with him. Asa finds an excuse to leave after she dropped that bomb on him.
Chap 22-23: Asa breaks things off with Sarah.

Too much hate for Sarah and not enough for Asa who was emotionally cheating on her the entire time. Misogyny strikes again hashtag not surprising.
