I think it's not entirely his fault
He was basically forced to marry the Queen and and move his commoner wife out of the palace or risk her getting murdered. She was murdered anyway but he did try to protect her. As for being a bad husband to the Queen, I think that's deserved considering the Queen killed his other wife and keeps trying to kill his son.
I don't think he's a shit husband. I do think he's a shit parent though. He let the Queen do whatever she wanted in regards to Edward which is insane considering he knows she hates him and will try to kill him. He also hates Joffrey who basically didn't do anything wrong. It's unclear if the King knows that Joffrey isn't biologically his kid, but either way, it's not Joffreys fault that his mother is insane. He's a horrible father to both Edward and Joffrey.
Well, then he could have said no to the marriage alliance. He wanted the queen's dowry to fill the empty coffers, WITHOUT doing his duty. Man, I hope someone will Isekai into the queen, hopefully before she gets married or maybe immediately, enjoy her wealth without giving a dime to the effing king and his mistress.

Well the queen was also only 15 when she was made to marry him n I doubt she would've married him if she knew he already had a lover that wasn't his wife he wasnt married Edwards mom was his lover he could've said no n stuck with edwards mom but he decided to ruin the life's of two women so misogynist that u attack the queen while excusing the king who is the cause of all this
It's been a while since I read this so I'm unclear on the details. But I do remember that the king wasnt going murdering people like the queen is. He also wasnt actively trying to kill a child. Do I think he's a good guy? No. Do I think he's significantly better than the queen? Yes
He may be trash, but she's a psycho. That's not misogynistic.

IMO, the king is suck at being husband.
