fl does not have any fashion sense and doent know how to do makeup, BUT there is a supporting chara appearing later in story who is obese but also knows how to dress up.
it do depend on person to person, also most fat ppl have low self-esteem and lack confidence to dress up and stuff bc they think nothing will look on them and js obsesses over losing weight
my only take rn as a person who has seen like three pages of this story is that i hate when people always draw or portray fat people like they have no sense of style. like fat does not mean frumpy by default. why is ol girls shirt unbuttoned and busting at the seams??? unnecessary details ppl always add into stories about bigger people
actually i am thinking back on a video i watched of street interviews from young women in korea and china and they were saying their fashion industries do NOT include fat people at all so maybe this is just an accurate portrayal of someone forced to dress like a slob bc there’s no clothes that will fit her in the store. i been there before (unable to find clothes in my size) but fortunately my culture has begun to accommodate other body sizes in the fashion industry. so maybe this portrayal seams a little dated to me since i get to see more larger-bodied people be able to express their fashionable and stylish sides or even just look upkept and polished at work and around town. (my personal fashion taste includes oversized and baggy ill-fitting clothes so is isnt really a a critique on frumpiness as an aesthetic, i just think that storytellers and stylists overly rely on the trope of a “glow-up” to mean starting from frumpy, slobbish, inattentive, unstylish, fat, and undesirable to poised, put-together, trim, slim, and attractive. all im saying is frumpy, unstylish, fat, and undesirable are NOT synonymous and it would be nice to see that reflected in media. ‘fatness’ and ‘style’ or ‘fatness’ and ‘attention to detail’ are not mutually exclusive! (tho ig this story is about someone with crippling sense of self-perception so maybe that contributes to her fashion choices and is explored in the plot later on))
