I haven’t read much but I agree… I actually think it’s an issue of storytelling. Some parts could do with some internal monologue and metaphors, which can also be put into the art. I think it would make it easier for the audience to feel and relate more towards the characters and the romance. I just feel like there isn’t enough space to focus on that, especially at the end of each chapter. Instead the storytelling is driven by each characters’ actions, like a storyboard, unfortunately
to add on, the characters are drawn far to stoically… scenes like the ML giving the MC the bed could end with the MC relaxing into it, or when the ML got slapped for being protective he could look more frustrated or sad at the end of the night. Even the scene where the ML is talking about the significance of the child is said with the straightest face. It’s a pity because all the elements are there but the story telling falls short

buddy do i hate to break it to you how public spaces on the internet work. its not an "uncalled for opinion" if its a public forum. not every opinion is going to be positive or one you agree with. not that mine was even bad to begin with lol, i just said it didnt live up to the hype and fell a little flat. buck up there cupcake, its gonna be alright, you got this!! ^.^
i agree, for such a character focused story every time theres a big scene (which is always exclusively the two mains with little to nothing going on around them) the emotions and reactions out of them never quite match the gravity of whats going on. it should be their reactions and emotions exclusively propelling the plot forward in such a character driven story but they propel NOTHING forward, instead thats the only time outside characters or events seem to have any importance is to show up and give the plot a push forward then disappear again into the background. its weird bc the characters are INTERESTING, the plot is INTERESTING, the art is GREAT, but at no point did any of the elements click and let the story take off, none of those elements ever just vibed
I think its shallow too but I find it a good fox. I do like the characters and don't think they skimped on their personalities but it would be nice to show more in developing their relationship and make it more of a slow burn.
i feel like the only person alive who doesnt love this. i finally picked it up bc botwn is so good so far and everyone says this was the og, the standard, etc... but im halfway done and everything feels so shallow. the characters, the fast paced story, motivations, everything. like i dont feel an ounce of chemistry or connection between the two even though this is a heavily character driven story (to the point im sick of the lack of plot and world building and overly focusing too much on their interactions.) i cant really take anything seriously bc its all happened so fast with little to no world building or real plot so nothing feels like the big deal the story tells me it is. idk i dont hate it, but its soo shallow and surface level, its just pretty and boring. im gonna finish it so i can say i did but this was such a letdown after all the hype.
