Maybe the book meant by "save the world" is "change your save point on the disc tesilid, the moment you defeat the evil, save it on the disc" (￣∇￣")

Maybe he wants to destroy the disk cause that's his save point. I think the grandma told Ailette that there is something saved there. So whenever Terry dies, he restarts on that particular save point.
