I respectfully disagree. I believe that Atan only calls her “sister” because it’s important for Irene.
To Atan, it doesn’t matter what he must do in order to get what he wants.
And if calling Irene a sister will have her near him, he would.
He said it himself, “family” is a stained word for him. He doesn’t want Irene to be his family due to his experience.
If he didn’t feel guilty to ruining his friend’s sister, hurting the duke; do you think he cares about what he calls her as long as she doesn’t hate or run away from him?

ngl it’s still a bit weird because in the recent chapters he keeps calling her “sis” after they make out like we gotta figure out a new nickname cuz it feels wrong but i do agree, i don’t think he actually sees her as his sister lol
