I don’t know baseball terminology so forgive me, but it’s like, even when/if Gensei does get hit, Takaya knows/trusts that the fielders have it covered. Part of Gensei’s “me for me” could definitely come from a lack of trust in his team too
Yeah, he seems to have a past revolving around not being trusted(if I remember right) so now he has equal amount of trust for others(which is none). not to mention he naturally has temper problem(again, if I remember right) so that might be why the trust issues goes both ways. Bit problematic if he has to work wh the current team, tho....
I guess he is the 'me for me' type, where he hates it when he has to take the brunt of things(like his pitches getting hit) all for the sake of the team winning(cuz, Abe knows to purposely use the hits to his advantage and purposefully making them hit for an out - cuz wh wud fielders exist then).
Basically Gensei's style is "i want to be good with not a single hair askew", somewhat stereotypical prodigy anime chara trope. Basically selfish, haha
