From what I gather, it's not that Daphne allow or consent to sleep with Apollo since she doesn't love him- so yeah, he's a rapist! Because she has no feelings to him whatsoever and she refused to be in any kind of relationship with, that weird suicidal tango they're both playing at- is not only toxic, it also a practical violence! A sexual violence! She also clearly stated she hate him and rather die than live with in shame. So I guess you could say she communicated her feelings well enough.
I think it's kind of weird not everyone understands sexual violence is still violence. Even if the victim is excepting of her circumstances.
I wouldn’t say the female lead is willing to sleep with him. From the beginning, it’s obvious that she does not consent during their first sexual interaction, yet he proceeds regardless. In the present timeline, she has come to view herself as little more than an object, aware that her refusals are meaningless because he will take what he wants anyway. It’s coercion and psychological resignation, not consent. At its core, the situation remains rape and sustained abuse. Also she communicates her feelings constantly, wanting to even die. It’s why we see so many panels of him “hurt” by her words. Because he knows she doesn’t want to be there with him.
i think i find different crowd here. i mean it probably dub con rather than full non con. i know apollo didnt listen but later there is a scene where he used seduction and asked for permission but we will never know whether he will listen this time but by then daphne already see herself as object(?) and didnt refuse. i probably more used to strong headed heroine or hero who will keep refusing, so to me daphne gave up too quickly. also later it was in the narrative about love and hate (wasnt it daphne feeling?), so i thought she still loved him under the surface even jussst a tiny bit. also even after the first time in the balcony daphne said to herself implied that she accepted apollo bc it made her feel pleasure (maybe i read it wrong) so i thought although daphne hated him she still like him like fck buddy. so thats where my confusion stand. i still think she didnt resist much or at all since the first time because her reason and memory remember she used to like him. from apollo side, that narcissitic buffon, i could understand how he mistook it as daphne still have some feeling left.
maybe it was the miscommunciation to me.
Ohhh I understand your point. But I think we different understandings of consent in this context. I believe Dub-con still assumes refusal might be respected, but the narrative shows Apollo ignores Daphne’s refusals early on. After that, any later “permission” exists within coercion. Which stems from Daphne’s lack of resistance but I don’t consider that consent. Feeling pleasure or conflicted feelings don’t negate rape, so while she may have felt pleasure I wouldn’t go as far to say she enjoyed him as fuck buddy. Plus he’s a literal god with powers and connections, unfortunately not much resisting she can do besides verbally. But I think we just have different opinions and interpret things differently which is okay! :)
ah i just realized i reading this wrong when i reread old comments. i agreed that feeling pleasure during rape still count rape. however the big confusion for me is in the narative when they kept brought up Daphne's old feeling and Daphne's being aware/remember she used to like apollo which misled me. part of kt also bc i didn't buy it when daphne gave up so easily, saying that apollo wouldn't listen to her when she tried so little... that's bc i am not familiar with these olympic god setting and idk that god's authority was that scary in Daphne's eyes. i thought she was exaggerating and used that as excuse of not refusing. yeah i basically reading too much into it. what i said before about fuck buddy, is the accumulation of my confusion and misunderstanding. but now that misunderstanding is cleared up
anyway this story has been finished. so it doesn't matter much anymore. what's matter it's happy end ig?
kinda wish apollo get a different kind of punishment that's more atonement to daphne than atonement to aphrodite

i am kinda confused about consent here. daphne, despite hating him, still sleep with him, so surely she cant blame him all that much when she gave up communication too by going on saying hurtful stuff to him (in her defense she was shoot with hate arrow) and about her feeling miserable and all. and she kept repeating about him toying with her then he must tell her again and again it is not completely true. the communication never go forward unless author needed it for the plot. so it ended up with unnecessary anount of kicked dog apollo scenes, which dont give him more score btw.
and apollo's being a god of reason is kinda shit when he didnt stop to think of daphne's reasoning, but then i have suspicion that he already liked her thus his 'sudden' love is really not suspicious to him at all.
maybe it is just my personal preference, but i dont usually read overly sentimental story. but i am really curious what will happen next. and the setting of greek god really interesting
