There is development, but manga poorly showed emotional aspects of characters, especially ML, and for some reason I think author just enjoys drawing MC crying during sex. He cries even when it's totally consensual vanilla sex, Idk, it just fried my brain and I couldn't get over how awkward it is.

Exactly, and the fact authors don't even bother to research how bdsm usually work in consensual way. In this particular case, ML just jumped on MC without explaining him anything, without caring if MC like any of those things, without introducing freaking SAFE WORD right away, like hello???
