i think that would more so be a problem for alphas (since their pheromones assert their dominance, they'd be at odds with one another), but I don't think that would be a problem for two omegas? i think it would mostly be that if they're in heat, another omega's scent wouldn't be able to comfort them the way an alpha's would.
i do think you're right though in that the author is neglecting the omega x omega aspect since there have been basically zero mentions of the ml's scent and he doesn't have slick or anything. wish they explored it more
I think many authors use the basic concept of omegaverse where alphas and omegas are instinctively attracted to each other becoz of pheromones and alll..... but that doesn't mean people cannot defy they're instincts and hormones, the extent of getting effected by pheromones and all are defined by the authors to match their plot. In the end it's a fictional concept, and up to one's own imagination.
The issue isn't the trope. It's the dynamic not making any sense. Two omegas cannot satisfy each other. Omega's by nature need the knot of an alpha during heat. And then there's the Alpha's getting impregnated or bitched. Even tho I didn't make the whole abo concept. There's SOME biological aspects that need to make sense. I can accpet a man having a uterus is some universe but not the idea that an Alpha suddenly grew a uterus out of nowhere just by getting fucked by another stronger Alpha.
Love me some omegaverse but shit gotta make sense at times. You can't just throw things at people and expect them to just nod and read along.
I think that’s my hang up too. I completely understand it’s fictional makeup whatever you want. You can use the basis of a trope and make your own as well. But when you just throw things on a wall and just see what sticks because you just wanted to add it in but did not think to create a narrative threadline with established systems or world building mechanisms, i can’t suspend my belief when it’s just so glaring you simply that made it up right then and there.

What I don’t even understand with the Alpha x alpha or omega x omega pairings is that isn’t a whole aspect of the society that they are affected by pheromones. Wouldn’t the very fact that two alphas or two omegas being together wouldn’t work simply due to biological repulsion? Shouldn’t that be the elephant in the room more than anything? At least that’s being explored in a story like “love is an illusion-superstar!” despite its less than stellar writing. In that manwha it at least adheres to an aspect of the omegaverse genre that’s been bothering me when authors write same 2nd gender pairing that’s just simply ignored dependent on the author but still follows every other arbitrary rule of the defined universe.
