The FL is way too lenient. I'm sick of doormat FLs in any kind of story, tbh, but *here* it feels especially awful because she has only been treated with so much unwarranted prejudice and untoward disrespect and yet, the story paints it as some kind of "kindness cures all" thing, where no matter how much they spit (metaphorically) on FL's face she mustn't stop treating other with kindness.
Like, sure, being kind IS important, and stooping down to other people's level is almost guaranteed to not bring about positive results... but this sort of perspective in "sucking it up and just smiling through your ostricization" can only be read in a positive light by someone who has not had to experience it firsthand.
With a FL this unwilling to even raise her voice, this story just feels like it's trying to romanticize the ostracism she goes through. It fucking sucks.
