I don’t think Maxi is just throwing a tantrum, she’s a complex and touching character. She was belittled as a child and deemed worthless by her father. Growing up in these conditions usually makes you desperate for recognition. She found comfort in healing magic because it makes her feel worthy and gave her a purpose. It was the first thing she ever willingly chose to do. Let’s not forget she also has imposter syndrome for being married to a famous knight. She’s not used to being treated like a noblewoman because that’s not how she grew up at Croyso castle. So when Riftan and the knights protect her she feels like a fraud. What I also really like is her talking back and yelling at the knights and even at Riftan. She used to flinch when he was around at the very beginning, it’s not only a sign of their relationship getting more and more comfortable but also her gaining confidence. Most knights didn’t like her and now they feel empathy for her when Riftan argues with her. Anyway I reallyyyy like her character development (I wish she could use her magic to beat her dad’s ass though
