Nah, never trust a person who actively pursues someone who's in a relationship, let alone a long term marriage. Mayama was way too young, naive and inexperienced to be with FL. As she said, what's between them is lust and desire but all that will fade over time. She's already experienced a sexless marriage but at the end of the day, her husband is the one whom she's lived her every day life with, and one that has been caring for her and her mother. FL did the right thing by letting Mayama go.
