Sorry guys, i was at work right then. I was actually wrong yet again, it was a lovely story. At least in my perspective. Though I don’t think any adaptation could actually fully portray the beauty of their relationship. It’s best form will always be the novel. The thing with the ml is he’s very much emotionally constipated. He has a very hard time with expressing his true emotions, he never learned how to be actually “human.” Both the mc and ml came from an unfortunate background. Mc being disowned by his family for reasons never his fault, they are all revolting people. And ml being violently abused by his family.
Since the very start ml has shown very apparent passion for the mc; both of them unaware. Due to circumstances, from how they met. Ml mistook mc for a slut which mc never objected to due to embarrassment. Ml’s way of preventing mc from looking for other people is to make him only satisfied with him. Which mc then asked ml to date him at least until the duration of the olympics. Ml agreed to it and even had thoughts to make him seek for him and continue even after the end of the competition. The thing was ml misunderstood that mc tried to sleep with his friend while mc thought he was only in it the sex and his body. Conflict happened yada yada and mc immediately left before the competition ended and ran away. (The timeline of this event is like only 2 weeks)
Ml knew he fucked up and wholeheartedly accepted it. He planned to never show up, bother the mc anymore and just live on the sidelines. Ml has consistently been always undeniably drawn and quite possessive with the mc from start until the end. Mc tried to date around and forget the pain with what happened with ml. Many failed dates and he even got caught in a media scandal. (This was already months after the olympics Mc won 2 gold medals and became a rising star celebrity). Mc was bullied and treated as an outcast by his team due to inconsistent performances in the past, only getting a little bit better even after the medals. But barely any change. A teammate let’s call him Ant is one of the major antagonist and has always hated and had a superiority complex with the mc but Ant is injured and had an accident in the olympics preventing him from his goal, he took it as a personal attack by the mc. Ant then embroiled him on another scandal. With all things happening around him and also with the ml love troubles. He then drunk livestreamed his side of the story to silence all the voices and was hoping to bait the ml. Ml throughout all of this is out of the picture, but he’s been secretly helping the mc and even quite literally stalked him to ensure his safety and had guards to help mc. In the livestream bloody writings was captured on his window, mc unaware. Ml came and they talked on a park, mc scared of their last encounter, shutdown the ml. Ml still can’t communicate his thoughts, more misunderstandings. Mc then vomited on the ml, ml is literally called princess in the novel due to his chaebol status and finicky nature. Ml seeing it, also vomited on mc. Mc ashamed of this, pulled ml to his apartment to change clothes. Saw the writings yada yada, called police. Mc has no place to go, estranged family, no friends, athlete village not accepting him due to management company he entered. Ml suggested hotel but at this point mc is already exhausted, drunk and tired. Even with his stalker out and about, still slept in the apartment. Ml scared of his safety, left him in the safest place possible. His house. Ml really already had no hopes with the mc, he’s more than aware that trying to be with the mc would only bring him more pain. A testament of this, them talking always leads to more misunderstanding and misery to the mc. Ml knowing this, left with the excuse of a competition. But he had already withdrawn from it and was just living on a hotel to not make the mc runaway from his house due to more misunderstandings. All the ml ever wanted was just to make sure of the mc’s safety and then quietly leave. He also directly told the mc to continue hating him.
The thing I like the most about this novel was their growth and their dynamics by the end of it. However I don’t think a manhwa format would be able to portray it fully. Ml is outwardly an asshole but has a hard time showing his true emotions and mc is aware of it and teases him for it. He says one thing but does another. The type to grumble and complain but literally lives to serve the mc. Their growth is really subtle and mostly perception & behavior. He accepts everything and would continue doing it, if mc shows a hint of affection. He’s a completely different person by the end of it. But it’s would be hard to really notice in a manhwa form.

Ml has always been aware of the pain he caused him and will continue to give him if he tries to be with him. So he never tried to make them happen.

He knows the ml doesn’t mean it so he tortures him for it.

Haeyoung looked up at Jooho, who was grumbling, confused. Jooho's words... ... Just hearing them made it sound like a confession, but his expression was distorted, like someone who was extremely angry.

Ml slowly learning to sound his thoughts out and make mc aware that whatever may happen with him he will always be by his side to help him. What he’s mad about is the situation with Ant. What he literally means by it, is that in his perspective he brings nothing but pain to Mc, so the Ant is incident is nothing compared to being with him. As mentioned before, ml had no thoughts of trying to be with mc so he rejected mc to prevent it. And that if mc continues, he can’t control himself no more and can never let him go. Mc still insisted tho.
Mc’s reaction:

Haeyoung recalled the confessions Jooho had made to him over the years. They were so peculiar, she thought most people wouldn't be able to tell the difference between confessions and threats.

He never replies to ml’s declaration of love in the past and only shows appreciation for it. Never truly believing it and believes that ml will leave him in the future. Mc is now ready spend his entire life with the ml
It’s a happy ending, so many more things happens from there on. Ml is never letting go of him!
