Yes you can add on mobile. For me when I put into already read, there is an option to add tags. This option should be located just above all the other tags used by other users.
I have a feeling the creating new tags have been disabled , while they fixing the issue. I can add to tags i already have made before , but is not letting me create new one.

Might be the silliest question ever but is there a way to add your own custom tags to the mangas you read? When I add a manga to my list it shows a bunch of tags already used by users, but I am unable to add the custom tag on mobile for some reason
