i think her not loving him is enough of a reason for him to not "get" anything; it's not like him being kind to her for a couple conversations is enough to "deserve" her (not that i think that's what you meant). but also, he did go behind her back to try and kill Roger, despite telling her otherwise. he betrayed her, and he's nearly as bad as the CP. the only thing CP did that duke arnold didn't is drug her. when she was with the CP, duke arnold seemed sincere and well-intentioned, but tbh i think that's just in comparison to the CP. i think one of the major themes of this manhwa is that someone being in love with you, obsessed with you, or claim loyalty to you doesn't mean that they value what you want or have your best interests at heart, and it doesn't mean you owe them anything.
