It irritates me that the 3rd prince lashes out at the FLs sister. I don't like her so I'm even more annoyed that I have to defend her. He states that for a few generations now, the kingdom is declining because they praised women for being beautiful and nothing else. He's admitting to the problem. His family, the royal family, directly created this problem. Old men being upset about competent women, shocker.
And instead of being calm and explaining things to a young woman who has clearly been raised to literally NOT have a thought in her head besides beauty, OR ELSE, he lashes out at her. Sure, her sister leaving is a huge loss, yada yada, but he has known BOTH of them their whole lives. He never bothered stepping in before now. He never showed the FL kindness behind the scenes. He just let things keep progressing until someone decides to change the law.
No, I don't like the sister. I'm not even saying she deserves a redemption arc. I'm fine with her fucking off into the sunset with a scatter brained idiot who only likes her for her looks. But if you've supported the status quo for years by being silently compliant, you don't get to judge. The price was complicit from the start. He's literally that quote from Utopia.
