I think it’s because Blondie practically pushed him to kill himself. Yes ML stood by and didn’t say anything a bunch of time but he didn’t actually actively bully him. He also did try to help Yiheon that night when he came to him. Blondie outed him and made his life hell which is why I think DP gives him so much less grace.
"I just don't understand why Dp won't give him a bit of grace when all Blondie wanted to do was talk to him, especially when he called the both of them his friends. It's weird someone like Dp, a mafioso, is favoring ML over Blondie by a large margin. The kettle and all that..."
Not the same kettle at all on this case. Of course DP won't give Blondie the same grace he gave ML, Blondie is the literal bully who tormented Yiheon for two years, made his life more of a living hell than it already is. ML might not have outright helped Yiheon (because he did say he filed an anonymous tip and one other thing I forgot), but that is in no way comparable to what Blondie did to Yiheon, and apparently all because he likes him?? That's not even the same as a kid pulling his crush's pigtails, what he did.
So yeah, DP is being casual with him, but not because he forgives Blondie for his past actions, but rather he just wants the rest of the HS life to go smoothly in case the real Yiheon comes back. At least I think that's what his motivation is for doing the things he's doing right now.
I think you misunderstood me when I said kettle. My bad, I should have been more clear. The ML isn't the pot nor the kettle. Blondie and Dp are. I'm not saying DP should forgive Blondie. I'm saying a bully who led to someone offing themselves is asking to speak to a gangster who offs people. That's all. Dp, as a mafia boss who kills people and has underlings who kill people, should be able to give an ounce of grace to blondie and just speak with him. He simply wanted to talk. I'm an adult myself, middle aged, and I've talked to horrible people for less of a reason. We all have skeletons, some bigger than others.
Ahh okay yes I did misunderstand what you meant there, my bad. I do agree with you that DP seems to have a weird back and forth of morality in regards to how he treats Blondie. As you said, he, a former gang leader, he should be giving Blondie a little more grace, given he used to work in the underbelly of society.
I think it could be partly because even if he works in a gang, he still has his own moral code that includes no bullying of others (as weird as that may seem). It could also be partly that what ML said before got to him, the one where he said that it was very clear that DP is not Yiheon, because he doesn't seem to hold any ounce of grudge against Blondie even after getting bullied for two years, nor does he seem traumatized by Blondie or the places in school that could be associated with how he was unjustly treated by Blondie and his crew.
Again, sorry I misconstrued your words
No worries~ lolololol! It's my fault bc I always shorten my sentences by removing clarification. I honestly need to break the habit lol~
You have a point about ML words probably getting to Dp. If I had to guess, I would agree with you. It would be bad if someone else were to figure out he wasn't actually Yiheon. If one kid could piece it together, it isn't far to say another could too.

Dp is Dp, Yiheon was Yiheon. Blondie might have bullied him but ML isn't any better. Both are looking for forgiveness. Unfortunately, for me, ML leaves a bad taste in my mouth. I've never liked sneaky people. At least Blondie is straight forward. What you see is what you get. I just don't understand why Dp won't give him a bit of grace when all Blondie wanted to do was talk to him, especially when he called the both of them his friends. It's weird someone like Dp, a mafioso, is favoring ML over Blondie by a large margin. The kettle and all that...
