I read the novel because I couldn't wait

I got so fed up with waiting for Vincent to recognize Paula that I read the novel, only for me to find out that their actual reunion and reconciliation was still far away from when he heard her in the library.

The chapters leading up to it was agonizing. Paula's sister got so infuriating that I had to read fast just to get her scenes over with. Paula is no saint either, her self-loathing and self-sabotaging got tiresome leading up to their reunion.

There's a reason why I don't particularly like the drama genre, the stress just gets to me. It's a great story, I just feel like some of the scenes and dialogues were drawn out and repeated throughout the novel.

However, with how the pacing in the manhwa is compared to the novel, their reunion might only be a few chapters away. Probably under 6 chapters.

OMG, thank you for saying that Paula's self-sabotaging is frustrating. I know that the reality for a lot of people is to believe themselves to be "not enough <insert characteristic here>" but oh my dear and fluffy Lord, the opportunities she keeps being spoon-fed and clamping her teeth together before the medicine can be ingested are making me insane! I get the plot armor, but for the love of mud, author, throw us a bone once and a while so that we don't fall into despair that the bubblegum-colored harlot gains no real traction while we wait for the resolution...

Lmao, I was legit skipping the chapters when I was reading the novel because I'm too impatient. But it was worth it in the end

Seriously, even when Vincent finally knew and confessed his feelings and laid everything bare in front of her (spoon-fed opportunities, like you said), she just kept saying "why me? Why do you love me?, I'm not worthy of being loved. Are you joking?". She got so frustrating even though I kinda understand her worries and doubts, but the author really just dragged her self-loathing narrative. Which fried me from the heat of my frustrations, I had to close the novel and take several breathers. ( ̄∇ ̄")

And of course, she just can't leave her oh so perfect sister behind, she just had to try and save her because of the guilt she felt from her other siblings. That frustrated me the most. After everything her sister had done to her, she still helped her, and what did that lead her to? Right, she almost got murdered!

I swear, when violet finally showed up in the mansion and cleared up the misunderstanding about who paula is with the other maids, I yelped a celebratory screech and went "finally".

So sorry for ranting, the contents are still fresh and I wanted to let it all out lol.

Yes, this, this, this!!! The overextension of the sibling entitlement syndrome that is the cornerstone of so many of these stories is emotionally crushing because we need that lead character to crawl out from under the rubble of the dysfunctional family or relationship and start running amok, wreaking vengeance for all the hurts, both physical and psychological, during the exposition stages. When that growth is slow to (or fails to) occur I will ask myself why am I torturing myself to keep slogging forward towards certain destructive disappointment? And yet, I mechanically press that forward arrow to devour the next serving of pain because I’m just dying to see if the time, THIS time, maybe the dumpster fire will be extinguished… Argh!!!
