Yeah but if in his defense it’s was made to sound casual, like he’s always subconsciously liked her anyways so it felt normal but there wasn’t any labels to it or “feelings” it was like her: “hey I’m curious wanna have sex cause ur the only person I rlly know?” Him: uhh yeah like yeah I’m horny too”. Like there was no emotional evaluation until it was too late and he realized that doing that ruined something special. Selfishly he thinks he can have his cake and eat it too, which I think is typical behavior for childhood friends. You don’t know what you have until it’s gone so he’s gotta lose her real quick to figure it out
Sure, at the beginning, they both believed it could've been casual. But along the way, they figured out this wasn't as casual as they both believed it to be and actually were romantically interested. Him CONTINUING to fuck her AFTER he's already rejected her when she confessed is fucked up (I'm talking about the hotel scene), and then to proceed to reject her once again AFTERWARDS without a proper explanation THEN avoid her AGAIN for 3 months is even more fucked up. By that point, he's already accepted he can't be in a relationship with her given his trauma. But respect goes out the window the moment you decide to get in bed with her, all the while knowing you can't commit even when she's made it clear she wants to.
His well in his rights to refuse a relationship, but that doesn't excuse him acting like an asshole. You don't get to hide behind your trauma like that. I'd even argue that by him doing this, is doing more damage to himself and to Haneul especially. And no, acting selfishly is not typical childhood friend behaviour lol

Y’all are too hard on mincheol. I feel him like I can’t imagine my best friend of 20 years whom I’ve liked suddenly deciding they like me and wanting to date so quickly. Like if you fell that fast what says we won’t break up as soon too? And what if it’s on bad terms…now our family is fucked. And I feel conflicted cause I want you but don’t wanna lose what we had, while already morning the fact it’s too late and we crossed the line. And I like you but I’m scared I’m not enough, especially with your past trauma that I blame myself for…. He needs to sort this out
