I'm actually ignoring anyone who thinks this has the pacing of a snail, The only reason that happens is because manwhas are released weekly and that's the distinction.

Does the plot have a pacing problem? HEEEELLL NO. The dialogue are long but we'll written and fits the period they're portraying, They're subtle and also clear in their intentions, God I fucking love this series for the trust it has on readers to actually consume the story properly.

Let's get one thing straight though, ML is a fucking asshole, what separates him from other assholes is the fact that he's a well written one. He's a hypocrite not in a sense that he's a pathetic man but because it's simply too far on his sphere and plans to consider that Luce is someone to keep.

And god that tingles me because most of the time we get an ML who is an ass simply because of an angsty story but here we have an environment that forced him to grow into such a ruthless and cunning state that his distrust means he truly never trusts anyone but Luce (MC) and I get he's a big piece of shit and I'm not defending his actions but it's such a breath of fucking fresh air to have a character who is actually well written in his ambitions, decisions and characterization.

And don't get me started on Luce who is so easy to root for, is clearly not a Mary Sue or a stand-in for the reader, The world feels like it has agency and the people around them react and have their own thoughts and limits to the situation around them.

It's not mentioned but the servants trusts on Luce to settle the prince down in his tantrums, Their worry when the prince has Salina in the parlor is so evident that it makes them so alive even without prior information

I'm actually so fucking obsessed with this? I don't get the slow burn complaints either because nothing so far has been redundant and have been continuously building the venomous dynamic between the two leads and the effect it has to the people around them and their plans for the throne.

Holy shit this had me giddy af.

To reiterate my point on the prince. His biggest distinction is the fact that he's hiding his true cunning nature under the veil of a lovestruck playboy eccentric man. He is the sort of man that wants what he wants and is not shy to get it even if it is too the dismay of the other party.

The thing is that his endeavors and choices in that regard is so backwards that it comes at the expense of Luce who will likely have a volatile reaction to the Prince's possessiveness due to his own experiences and beliefs formed when he was a child.

Their actions as a character feels like something they actually make, There is a conversation to be made about if his actions (dubious consent and physical violence) committed are warranted and I'd say controversially yes, not because it's the trope or that I like it but because if you think even a second of it. That decision to take and inflict pain without a qualm is simply something that's been shown to be prevalent to his innate personality having been present even when he was 14.

Do I hate the fact that I know even with all that they'd be together? Absolutely, Do I fault it into bad writing? No.
