while i can understand where you drawing the comparison; them both being psychopaths and this specific scene where he decides to play the “hero”, it kinda just ends there. like okaya is lwk just trash who decided his obsession with kiritaka was worth doing all those shitty things, whereas the mc from brutal is basically dexter.
Idk Dan has someone he is in love with to the point where he was given his diary he framed every page of it and hanged them around his room, and if he had a crazy mom like okaya does he probably would be just like him. Dan to me feels like a serial killer who targets ppl that are bad ( either they killed or not ) like if he saw you kick dogs in the neighborhood congratulations there a 50/50 chance u will get VIP seat to watch the exorcist with him. While Dexter targets ppl who already committed murder. and i do agree Okaya is trash i hate him because about his feelings to Maria's son or even care to understand his ideology of he ain't gonna change it.
So sorry to be the bringer of bad news but dan is puree evil. He isnt the antagonistic hero archetype whos going around satisfying his twisted urges on scum of society. If u read trace youll find Dan's backstory.. its pretty heavily hinted that he wirh his friend group bullied their classmate to grape his own sister and then drive him to suimcide and murder of entire family+ tampering of evidence and burying of the case. Brutal dan is trying to collect "good karma" in hopes of reuniting with this high-school friend he keeps mentioning which coincides pretty much with trace Dan's lore....
Yah i know i didnt mean to describe him as a repenting saint. I don't personally like the archetype of serial killers that kill ppl like them to either satisfy their killing urge or probably hidden agenda. Im starting to dislike Brutal, since at first for me personally I could see the art and story paint Dan as not a hero but u just watch a sociopath being a sociopath and then the new art gave him a Handsome face and even when he kills it feels like the artist trying to romanticize him to the audience or whatever. It just feels like im looking at serial killer smut or something ( ̄へ ̄)sorry if half what I said doesn't make sense.

Okaya is starting to remind me of the main character from "Brutal: Confessions of a Homicide Investigator", especially with that seen in bed with those papers which I would assume are written by the Maria's son.
