The point is they can’t comprehend that someone would love them unconditionally since they can’t even love themselves. Both for Yujin and MC here. They both went through trauma surrounding relationships and the idea and expectation of love. I’m honestly not surprised by this turn out at all. It’s a defense mechanism.
no yeah for sure. it’s self sabotage and they’re thinking they’re doing the right thing for all parties bc they think it’s not going to work out so it’s better to cut ties now rather than later. or even worse they see themselves as dragging their love interest down when that’s not how their ml sees it at all. it’s just super sad to watch cause we know how much they love each other at the end of the day but that doesn’t make for good angst LOL
It’s realistic cause people don’t just up and get over their trauma. Especially seeing that MC is being targeted rn by legit everything he’s going to do everything in his power to keep the person he loves alive regardless of whether or not he’s in their life. Is it correct? No not really. Especially since he’s so unstable with or without ML but honestly he’s communicated really well about how he feels. I think if things weren’t blowing up this much he would’ve given ML the time and effort to court and support him.
He would’ve gradually opened up to him. But is it reasonable for him to explore this relationship now? Yes and no. I say no because then it could potentially lead to new struggles that could end up with one of them really hurt or dead(different manifestations and so on) buttttt the entire time they’re stressing that it’s feeding off trauma so it could lead to the dungeon and all these issues being put to rest real early.
The problem? MC doesn’t trust himself and therefore cannot trust ML. I think it’s being dismissed just how much MC went through. He literally threw himself into work to try and rewrite everything. No it’s not healthy since the wounds are just gonna fester but it is better than wallowing in his misery. The way how I see it MC doubts his capabilities of maintaining a relationship. He’s scared he won’t be able to hold onto him and that he’ll pour everything into him just for him to leave or do worse. Remember that’s exactly what happened in the past. He would rather be untouchable on his high horse than get ripped apart or pushed down to the level that bastard left him at.
not another mc thinking that distancing themselves from the one person that would love mountains to keep them safe in a world where everyone is out to get them, is the answer. FLASHLIGHT WAS ENOUGH PLEASS
