After reading the novel and then Riftan’s POV, the difference between the novel and the manhwa feels like night and day. The manhwa is still really well done, but it can only include so much detail. The novel goes much deeper and gives a lot more insight into Maxi and Riftan’s thoughts. Just reading the manhwa isn’t really enough to fully understand the story. Yes, Riftan’s actions can be frustrating, and Maxi can be aggravating at times, but their behaviour makes so much more sense once you understand their personalities and their pasts, which the novel explains in much more detail. Even characters like Ruth feel way more developed in the novel. The manhwa is what made me fall in love with the story back when I discovered it in 2019, but the novel is what truly made me appreciate the story, even if the ending was rushed and unsatisfying. I recommend anyone that can to read the novel.
