Mc is very traumatized from his childhood and thus has a very low self esteem. The way I see it taerim constantly takes advantage of that and treats him like a side dish (having sex with him while he has a gf). He said he's doing it until mc gets a gf, so he doesn't want feelings involved, but then he keeps giving mixed signals. He really does not listen to mc and just does whatever he wants, while acting as if he's the one being played.
