No litrally its so tiring but its also so common in everyday. The abuse that children face especially neglect and "strict" parenting is never taken as seriously as it should. Authors love to create a traumatic backstory without any actual consideration of what theyre actually freaking writing its crazy

You know what? I'm sick of this trope where the girlfriend/boyfriend (husband in this case) tries to excuse their partner's experience abuse or neglect and forces them to reunite with their abusive parents who clearly have not reflected or want to change. If I met the parents of my partner who literally abused him, I would've slapped them and dragged my partner far away from that place. And what does having grandkids have anything to do with this ? I'll be more worried since what if they do the same thing to the grandkids like what they did to their own kid.
I don't get why authors love to do this trope where years of neglect and emotional trauma can be overlooked by a nice conversation or just by having grandkids. I get that it's an Asian sentiment to put family first (I'm also asian) but sometimes not all people deserve to be parents.
