Yeah it’s all just political including his marriage with tei. That’s what’s making him so anxious and rightfully so - especially now that he found out he’s not the only one. Think of this from tei’s pov for a bit and keep in mind he’s not the first one in his family to be in this situation. He’s witnessed his mom go through the same thing and it did not end well for her.

Like, yeah, you maybe took nobody, not even bed them but if we are technical, you have a harem (a big one with not only female concubines but ALSO males!). Why are you pouring such devotion to Tei when...Tei has never been alone in this situation to pretend being your lover -as others might also be pretending the same to give off "the normal consort hierarchy and tiers" to the public? It gives the unsettledness that Tei is just a trophy or a pure untouchable doll to be displayed just like the concubines from one perspective or a mannequin to cover Shuraka's eventual ventures with the concubines sometime in the future after he gets tired of Tei - which of course, won't happen as this is a BL but I cannot stress enough how this thought might be going through Tei's mind and self doubts.
Yes he needs assurance and communication from Shuraka. But, Shuraka is young too and thinks all Tei does for him is out of a sense of duty so doesn't want to impose the mountain of feelings he has for Tei. It's a difficult situation.
Wdym He’s a grown ass man and a king who’s clever enough to earn his position. He knows EXACTLY what he’s doing. And he’s imposed ENOUGH - he gets to decide when tei comes and goes into his room/kingdom, he gets to decide tei’s position, where he’ll stay, etc. he gets to watch him like a hawk all those n years they were apart while he keeps tei in the dark. Rn, there’s absolutely nothing to like from their arrangement from tei’s pov so what did you expect?

Like, he can obviously stop someone from going into his room, it's not like Tei cant do that either and Tei was always going to be his consort/bride (unless they said something else), he doesn't decide that personally that's just the marriage agreement, people want to change Tei to a different person tho.
King or not, Shu is still younger than him by a good few years, this is first (and probably only since he's a top) crush ever, he's def a virgin, and he clearly has no healthy view of relationships since he feels like acting with authority makes Tei uncomfortable and quiet like his mom and doesnt want to act like that
Like I agree, Tei will misunderstand because of his insecurities certainly but Shu hasnt done anything technically wrong or manipulative

Shuraka i was gonna look the other way when you decided to ignore tei after he literally just uprooted his life to come live with you. But now i find out you have concubines your man is already out here being restless and now he’s forced to go through another set of emotions after you omitted the fact. Royals are expected to have concubines???? Then why is tei reacting shocked like that???? All this time Shuraka had us all believing he won’t accept anyone but tei so it’s a bit of a let down
