I feel like Shuraka has the harem not bc of his own choice but because it was collected FOR him. Like he was purposely celibate awaiting Tei and someone in the palace tried gathering women for him bc he needs to be intimate bc of his blood but he kept on rejecting all of them. And in a culture with concubines it’s seen a disrespectful to send them back so they really had no choice but to keep them. But when Shuraka was like “No, I don’t want these women, I want Tei” they were like “guess he’s gay? We gotta find a dude now” but obviously Shuraka only has eyes for Tei. And as for why he had the guy’s scent on him, that dude’s ego was hurt awfully bad and so he’s trying realllll hard to get with Shuraka.
That’s just my theory tho.
