Hi, can you please explain why it can be interpreted as internalized homophobia? Bcs i'm kinda confused about it #-.-)

yeah ofc! when moto mentions that he feels sorry for the fish being in such a small tank, kazu basically says that the fish probably feel safer in this small tank than the vast ocean since there are no threats. moto says it would be nice if that were true and kazu says its better to think of it that way while standing behind the tank. this gives the image of him being stuck in a tank like the fish, which is basically kazu’s way of telling moto to not pity him for living a suppressed life and believe that he is happy as is—just like the fish. later, when moto confesses, kazu tries to brush it off and moto tells him to not give up so easily while kazu is pictured again in front of a fish tank—trapped in that little glass prison. kazu had gotten used to the idea that his feelings would never bear fruit and had thus convinced himself that the way things were now, constantly hiding his feelings and not expressing his full self, was as good as it gets because it was safe. he essentially ended up viewing his love for moto like the dangers of the vast sea to a small fish. if he never let himself express his love, then he could stay with moto exactly as they were and didnt have to risk losing anything.
sorry if that was way too long, but i found traces of my own queer experience in this and got really passionate about it.
