My opinion of ML is that he tries to be understanding and is not ill-intentioned but he does not understand trauma (and by extension, I think that the author does not either since they are trying to portray ML as a green flag). These are very recent incidents that stand out to me:
- ML reacting so dramatically to MC saying that the other guy is his god and ML is his sun. The way he snapped at MC after witnessing MC cower away and remembering bad memories a few hours (or maybe days?) ago shows that ML only cares about possessing MC and not understand him - ML insists on getting responses in the moment despite MC obviously having an episode or a panic attack. He ends up reassuring MC and calming him down but why trigger him and insist in the moment f you're going to apologize later? - ML reassuring MC that he wouldn't have penetrative sex with him only to go back on his word in the middle of it
The way the author is portraying this is very reminiscient of older yaoi and even straight smut where the cure to trauma is falling for a possessive guy who is only perceived as a green flag because MC (man or woman) has had shitty experiences before and ML is better by comparison
