Even if she is a princess

The king should have sided with the duke. The duke is married and is opposing a remarriage. If the king and princess press the duke even more, the duke could become an enemy of the state and with how powerful he is and how far his connections reach, I don’t think the princess nor the king would be able to withstand it without giving in to him. It’s just recklessness from the princess. He shouldn’t have just humiliated her in public, he should have declared that he’s going to file an official complaint to the king about the princess’s actions and behaviour towards the entire duke family. He’s as much of a coward as he was in the beginning. He’s not supporting his wife at all. If someone really wants to be the enemy of your wife, you should make that person your enemy as her husband and vice versa. He should have refused business with the princess unless she publicly apologises and grovels to the duchess and has the duchess accept the apology. This story is so dumb but I have sunk cost fallacy so I’m continuing this on.
