even a dog and a cat is too much, a child wanting a sibling is the same as them wanting to eat grass or dive head-first on concrete, he will be fine without a sibling
A BABY can never decide wether they want or should have another baby or not. Kids will grow up, make friends and as parents they can just teach him to overcome the desire of having a liitle brother. Buy him a dog, a cat, whatever. Its so wrong to consider a baby's wish as a factor about such a huge decision... dont spoil the kid too much
