I doubt he starts acting the way he was before. If anything he might spend less time with Dan but he won’t be mean or cruel to him in any way. Something is going to happen to make him see he can have both: be a champion and have feelings for Dan; he’ll come to realize he doesn’t have to sacrifice one for the other.
