among people who watched AOT, is it really good?

im sani March 25, 2026 2:32 pm

im not really big on pure gore stuff, i read the manga a long time ago and didn't finish because i didn't like the constant dying left and right, + the massive spoilers online

it is peak fiction, there are so many easter eggs it’s really fun to watch. but if you don’t like gore or just people dying in general, aot isn’t for you, cuz lowkey everyone keeps dying in this anime. like it doesn’t get better

It's my all time favorite, in my opinion it's great...but as with any anime or manga, there are haters here too, especially when it comes to the ending... In my opinion, it's the only ending that makes sense, but yeah...But as seabi says, a lot of people die here, so if you don't like that, it's not for you

girl my friends have been begging to watch this show and honestly i am not sure. i love a good show but i am such a terrible person ngl bc i do #firstwatch_thirstwatch thing. ie. i will watch a show when the characters are really fucking attractive. aot does have good looking characters(god bless levi ackerman and his voice), even erwin and S4 eren yeager will always be famous w his man bun. but too many people die and its such a sad thing bc i get attached. i started jjk back then bc i really liked how all of them were fine shyt, i was going insane (≧∀≦) then it hit me with deaths of characters i grew attached to, and i was going insane ( T﹏T ) so to all the people who like aot, you've got taste, but overall, i js don't think i'll be able to like it. also, i like a good homoerotic tension in a show, which i guess aot got a doomed yuri scene going on with ymir and historia, but i don't think i'll be okay watching doomed yuri.
i think we can agree that jjk is gayer than aot and also has more overall fuckery going on, like it gets funny at times. i don't know if aot has any funny thing going on or not, but maybe i js don't like the overall “yellow” vibe of aot. that's such a petty reason for me to not start, maybe one day i will get around to watch it. but that day is not today.

Honestly ever since I watched aot 3 years ago, it never left the #1 spot of my favourite animes of all time list. I would like to say that I've rewatched it many times but no, I've watched it only once and I probably won't for another 10 years bc of how memorable and impactful it is. Deadass, for once the internet isn't wrong about smth and aot deserves all the popularity it has. So it's definitely in that "you'd regret not watching this earlier" category but I agree with @seabi as well. Don't bother if you can't handle ppl dying left, right and centre, still I wouldn't discourage you from giving it a try bc the storyline is so damn peak, just bear in mind that it's a deep and tearjerkjng story so watch it at your own risk (but I srsly swear, it's so good)

I don't want to sound crazy, but I've been a fan since 2013, ever since apt first came out and I still am. Since then, I haven't found anything else that's captivated me enough to keep me hooked for so long

genuinely im like this but for additional reason that i sometimes think "is such a shame for this one to die here when he could've made something more interesting later" and i'm in constant back n forth between pity and frustration esp since most authors just use death as a way to move their plot forward, so im definitely w u on your last statement

Not at all related to ur topic but aot is so important to me cuz seeing mikasa half naked and sweating made me realise i love women #girlkissing

i did start reading it in 6th grade in 2012, and only managed to take a peek then and now, and then recently dropped it altogether because i don't like grieving for characters (i read a lot of spoiler and was discouraged to continue)

we can give you a recommendation if you tell us what else you usually watch or read (▰˘◡˘▰)

character deaths are parts of most action anime, you choose a fav character and then kaboomm! they die so maybe it's not for you but if you ask my opinion aot is one of the best works in fiction imo, it's one of my favs and I absolutely enjoyed it and about the spoilers, well it's so easy to get spoiled in huge fandoms like aot and even though you get spoilers don't let them stop you, almost everything I watched was spoiled for me but I still enjoyed them a lot, you still haven't witnessed all those struggles that lead to that event/spoiler, people rewatch things lots of times even though they know the whole story

    (#1. Aot & D.Gray Man #2 Death Note #3 Code Geass)

i think generally, i just dont like lots of gore [?] since im a bit afraid of blood irl (IM A COWARD)–and AOT is basically gore since it's man-eating organisms LOL, but my overall reads are mostly mystery/psychology thrillers

dr brain, my dearest self with malice afterthought, terror of resonance, detective conan (i know man, i know), death note (in which i mourned light so bad, i had to stop reading for a whole month LMAO), maria no danzai, you get it

man not so related but now I kinda feel bad cuz letting my 9y.o brother watch aot might not have been the best decision, now 2 years have passed and he's okay I guess cuz he's not bothered by gore and other stuff and he actually enjoys it. Btw since you mentioned you like mystery/ pyschological stuff you may like moriarty the patriot

Code Geass especially peaked in the 1st season though well we're all entitled to our own opinions anyways, you should defo give D.Gray Man (2006-8) a try! It's a gothic fantasy but it's really good. Unfortunately I can't promise that you won't see bloodshed (there's actually plenty) but it's heavily psychological as well
