"You don't need to kill your gf just because you're gay", "Why kill the woman?"
It's shown (and also explicitly stated at the end) that Takagi is prone to domestic violence and suffers from mental illness... He texted Kobayashi in a panic, implying that the murder was a crime of passion, not premeditated. He was also violent towards Kobayashi when he arrived, telling us that this violence is not something he could control.
The point of this manga isn't to tell a tragic love story, it's to portray two severely unwell individuals and their dysfunctional relationship. Both boys came from abusive households and ultimately succumb to the cycle of abuse. Takagi became violent like his father, and Kobayashi excuses Takagi's violence in order to obtain his affection, even going so far as to help dispose the body.
Takagi's confession at the end is also heartbreaking because we have seen his abuse towards Kobayashi. Even if Takagi sincerely loves Kobayashi, he cannot control his violence. What's more, we see that Kobayashi is more than willing to accept the abuse out of love
Is the murder of the girlfriend misogynistic? Well, femicide is misogynistic, but it's defined as gender-based killing. Nothing in the manga implies that Takagi killed her because she was a woman. Rather, it seems that Takagi is just prone to violence due to his mental illness.
OMG I couldn't agree more! I read this multiple times, probably once or twice a year, but didn't check the comments. I didn't realize many people think the guy killed the girlfriend because he's gay, like what..?
