Im so happy to find someone who points out on this overdone cliche, its so annoying and changes my impression on the relationship on this specific part of their character to become bored
Im not hating it cuz I think its useless, I'm hating it cuz its just too much at this point. No matter if its a good or great story, connecting them to their childhood makes me go from :) to :/
If they're not doing a "we met in childhood, got separated and re-encountered as adults" Trope they'll instead just go for "wE'RE sOulMATeS/LoVeRS fRoM oUr pAsT LIVeS"

what is up with koreans and their obsession with making the characters connected since childhood? this also happens a lot in kdramas, it’s so overused and doesn’t always add anything to the story
