It's such a masterpiece. Sensei is so incredible in her writing and art together that has created such a beautiful story yet also heartbreaking at times seeing what the characters have gone through. It will always be one of my favorites.

I bought the last volume and I cried so hard at the end (good tears). It also has a lesbian couple in it and they have their own issues as well. I think it was important to include in this story because it also brings to light the difficulties women had living in that era and talks about gender roles, expectations of women, being second-class citizens with no autonomy and the oppression of living in a patriarchal society with a rigid class system. Plus, we hardly get any lesbian edo-era stories so as sensei does best, she really made an impactful storyline for them.
