We only know that he spent that much time incarcerated, not that he was sentenced only 2 years, right? He may have been sentenced to more than 2 years but met a condition that reduced his time, like exemplary behavior, community service, providing intel, etc.
i think this would still make me wonder what the original sentence was to have it be cut down to 2 years, with everything we know he did i wouldnt be surprised with life, especially since hed also been chased for a while. Otherwise im pretty stuck to the theory that their case was just weak against him and had to settle for something small
