It's actually a reference to the real Marie Antoinette loving flea brown dresses and her actual time periods clothing. Because of movies people believe that colorful pastels were her thing but nope she flea brown was her favorite color lol.
Brown? A dark brown plain dress?? I've never seen a queen want to dress down pls. Moreover all her old clothes are only slightly embellished with lace, trim and couple flowers. That's so tame! It's sad how she can finally live to her full potential but chooses not to bc merely wanting to dress extra or even just nice is considered vain, selfish or worse, evil. As long as she isn't supporting exploited workers, who is she hurting??
