I came here to comment this! Great-aunt isn’t handling this very well, but she clearly wants Edgar to have a good upbringing for his own sake.
Guys Im sure she’s just a lonely old lady. Yes she is trying to take away Edgar but it’s because she thinks he’s not being cared for.
