Kinda

I kinda feel bad about Cliff to be honest. He was definitely influenced by the plot until the end and he can't get a way with it. Why tho? Everyone got their own freewill after their roles were lifted off except his. Its kinda unfair that everybody had a chance to turn a new leaf but him. And to think the duke and duchess lose their son for that and it was just glossed over. And now he became a character that beats the shit out of his partner?? It just doesn't make any sense. He wasn't a bad character, he was just written as an obssessive male lead and it was because of the plot yet the previous 'Edith' gave him a punishment for that??

I think the manhwa did an awful job at portraying Cliff’s twisted matured and at the same time punishing him more than the novel ( ̄∇ ̄") in the go story, Cliff broke free from the authors control quite easily, because he wasn’t genuinely obsessed with these-author; meaning, he delivered helped jarras and attempt to murder Edith. He willingly did that, no control needed (up until the epilogue/side stories where the author snot rhyme author, but real author lol- backtracked and then suddenly he “still was a bit influenced — the thing is, the ending of the novel was cliff succeeding as a duke and marrying author-rhyme. They literally had a happily ever after despite their wrongdoings. But maybe that ending got backlash, idk, and in the side stories the author Redid that lol)

So the punishment we see here is the one i would have liked led to have es in the novel. But here, they really softened Cliff’s evil character and yeah, I can see how this new ending can seem a bit much ( ̄へ ̄) this adaptation is strange because they softened things sometimes and then made others more hardcore for someone reason. Still like it though.
