Why did they do it like this?

1. MC adopts ML as a child (MC is an adult),

2. MC dies

3. ML refuses to let MC go and reanimates him.

4. MC tries to take his own life (destroying his body to prevent reanimation) and ML incapacitates him before he can.

5. MC wakes up and is unable to control his body, being under the control of ML.

I would've enjoyed this if there wasn't the child-mentor thing and ML wasn't ignoring all of MC's wishes. I don't really understand why they had to to make ML off-kilter like this, especially since MC still feels responsible for him.
