I mean, In terms of writing, It was there to serve a narrative point. it was supposed to be uncomfortable, unfortunately it wasn’t senseless and purely smut and certain people behavior have to be explained. that scene was supposed to set the table in understanding what Kendrick’s mental state was prior and how his childhood explains his following action which was for him to even settle with a wolf turned human who he was forced to mate with for fucking days and was impregnated (literally body horror) — simply cuz unlike the priest pedo who abused him and see him as an object of obsession, little A offer him ‘food’ (bare minimum lmao) and show signs of care for his wellbeing, which is why Kendrick highlights that in his journal and even go as far as to humanised him since he’s the ’ better’ option compared to what he is limited to only experiencing in his reality —sir pedo.( highlights that word limited— cuz he was SA and raped since he was young aka all he ever known) Notice how that pedo’s little disgusting rambling parallel the reality Ken choose for himself? “ go to a church only you and me” “even brings the children around to keep since u like kids” etc. those scene and dialogue was intentionally picked out. both raped him. Anyway, the priest played a major narrative role in setting the stage for this story to happen in the first place, Kendrick was sent there on purpose to get raped into having female gentile by a succubi (or whatever it’s spelled) , so that the priest could fulfilled his sick fantasy of having children with the kid he groomed. So yeah, it wasn’t like oh I need to write a sad backstory for no reason, it was to explain plot point and showcase the entirely of the character’s mental state to explains k behaviour on why he was so mentally dependant on little A and not repulsed longer like sadistic beauty side story MC. I hoesntly can’t think of a better past to explains why that whole ‘body-horror-raped-for-days-“ had him even humanised with little a.
