There are 3 Japanese movie/drama that are animal related that left me absolutely dry from crying too much.
Mukai Arata no Doubutsu Nikki. A J-drama. Story about Mukai Arata, a vet student and his dog, Rosinante. When it's a vet related story, you can damn well expect absolutely fking sad episodes. I still hate the ending.
Kogitsune Helen, or Helen the Baby Fox. It's a story about a boy named Taichi who found a baby fox that is blind and deaf. Yeah, a combo of sad kid and sad baby animal. Prepare tissues from the beginning.
Antarctica (1983 film). Have you watched Eight Below, where 8 sled dogs get left behind and 2 died, 6 survived? Yeah, this is the origin of that, based on real story. Originally, it was fking 15 dogs. And only TWO SURVIVED. Expect an ocean coming out of your eyes.
The top two recommendations? I watched them when I was 10 years old or younger. Did it leave me absolutely devastated? Yup. But I also learn that all lives are special. Let your kids watch sad stories, folks.
(Also, see that I didn't include Hachiko in the list? That's because I never watched the Japanese movie version LoL I've read enough about the story, I don't need to SEE it happen.)
