ughh this is the worst type of lack of communication. It's literally dumb and bad writing at that point, there was not a single reason for mermaid guy to not explain the situation. Also, I'm not really into this plot and their entire relationship basically being based on a coersive and 'aphrodisiac'-like bond. And mermaid dude is just not a good person person. Self-centered and controlling, purposely hurting the vamp multiple times out of jealousy.
