Love thissss. This is a scenario I've thought about before a fair amount of times, but you hardly ever see it depicted in media. After the realization/confession of feelings authors tend to rush into slapping a label or throwing people into a relationship, but I LOVE when they hold of and adjust to the specific dynamic and circumstances and just let the relationship develop organically while the characters have a mutual understanding. I find it incredibly mature and realistic, and it also works narratively since the suspense remains.
The only other example for what I mean that I can think of at the moment is the main adults from "Journal with witch". It's not exactly the same, but it has the similar dynamic of two people that know they care about and are attrected to each other but simultaneously aknowledge that dating wasn't/isn't the right/best choice at the moment, so they just love each other freely and go with the flow for the time being

ughh, I really like the couple and it's a pretty interesting and unique story, but I kinda hate that if it wasn't for that fuckass, creepy teacher they could have had a sweet, wholesome, pain-free romance a decade earlier ╥﹏╥
