She’s desperately trying to hook him off because she cares about him. Not as a person (though recently uploaded chapters have rectified that) but as a character she created and she still wants a happy ending for him which he cannot have with her. Compared to the other guy that is younger, she probably views that one as having a puppy crush. But Scheider seemed a little more serious so she needed to direct his love somewhere else.
