note: this is my opinion and I don't care if people call me a weirdo for liking taboo dynamics. fiction doesn't affect reality, and if it does, it says something more about you than it is to me. if you don't like my opinion, *scroll*.
I absolutely love this kind of relationship in media. their relationship is so complex that it cannot be described easily or is linear and simple. I also love that Lu Qi is way younger than Shi Liu, it adds more depth to their relationship. he's young and less experienced with life, he's gone through alot of stuff and is numbed down that he lives his life like he's just floating, barely existing. when Shi Liu came, he finally was able to "feel" and exist. he had no one so his life, but suddenly he has this caretaker/lover/killer. despite the looming thoughts of being suicidal, this constant movement of Shi Liu in this day to day life has kind of pushed it back. Lu Qi was able to forget about everything that has happened so far. yes, his escape to reality using games definitely helped, but the addition of Shi Liu made things better (or worse). he finally had someone who was worrying about him and taking care of him because he couldn't do it himself nor is the people who should be doing it for him. but of course, things aren't that simple. Shi Liu is predatory, besides being a serial killer, he manipulated Lu Qi who didn't know any better that this kind of life is better than the one he had. the constant sexual encounters between them, the isolation, the possession, and the way these two ignore reality due to their very difficult circumstances. it seems that Shi Liu relates to him one way or another, and thus, created a lifestyle where they both spiral in their own little world, devoid of others. I liked it when Bear and Ghost appeared in their life, they aren't so isolated from the world anymore and finally have someone who can snap them back to reality even for a bit. Lu Qi and Shi Liu's relationship are still not (and probably never) what you'd call a "normal relationship", but they heading towards a not-so-healthy-but-better version. the start of the series the two aren't that entangled with one another, Lu Qi wants to die and Shi Liu is his killer, that's it. but at S2, their connection ran far deeper than what they wanted and they can no longer fix the mess. they have each other and both doesn't want to let go. I'm really glad that Lu Qi is finally able to have friends, and Shi Liu doesn't deny it that much that he's wanting and loving him in his own special way. I hope that I can get to read the next season immediately and see how their relationship goes to the next level!
