Is it weird how the brother is evil? Doesn’t he die in the first life? I just don’t get what his purpose is other than being like a traitor/terrorist is?
It's not weird, rather once Yuri realizes he's a traitor EVERYTHING in his first life makes sense. It's like the cog wheel Yuri didn't know was missing but suddenly clicked showed a whole different scenery.

Romance isn't even secondary it's tertiary, mainly because it's almost set in a way like he'll get back with Yekaterina ╮(￣▽￣)╭
The older brother being evil was kind of obvious but I enjoyed the suspense in the reveal. There are so many other nicely implemented twists and some broke my heart.
I really appreciate that he never clings to his past life, like "did this change because i changed the future" or "this is what's gonna happen" after he's already gone and changed so much.
Yuri is SET to change the course of the future even as those close to him die, betray, suffer. He carries this mentality of I'll save the world or I'll die trying. If i do save it it's okay to die because of it too.
Really hope manga doesn't butcher or shy away from the wars and blood
