Yeah like I dated guys like this, but they were much older (27-30 range) so this is very typical for being this age. Highschool is still very recent for them, they haven't had many relationships so learning how to navigate them and how to communicate is new to both.
And as they both have traumatic wounds from childhood they haven't healed then this is normal early 20s chaotic behavior.
Doesn't make it right ofc, and he does need to change his ways. But he is at the right age for him to make those changes.

Yes! Exactly my thoughts. And I think it's important to note that she's messy too. Inspite of being treated the way she did, she did go back to him (even if with an ulterior motive) and has also been affected by his genuine-ness in this 2nd leg of their situationship.
They're young, they're messy. Teenagers/young adults don't have their shit together & this shows it. He's a good looking guy who has gotten his way and he did for a while with the FL as well but what he didn't expect was for her to use him back. What he didn't expect is how invested he got throughout this whole chapter. Him hurting himself, etc just shows how not put together he is & you can feel what you want to feel but I don't feel empathy but more like oh gosh, he can't get her back being this clumsy,.lol. The character growth will be interesting to see.
